After being heavily criticized after an assault on a girl at Kheha stop on Tuesday morning, the operator of Bangkok’s Skytrain solutions has come out to protect its security procedures.
Security guards immediately responded, according to Sumit Srisantum, chief operating officer of Bangkok Mass Transit System Plc ( BTS), which controls the BTS Green Line. A passer-by reported that the suspect, who was only identified as Suthat, had exposed himself on the escalator.
He refrained from expressing his anger at BTS staff’s sluggish response, claiming that the suspect was first discovered on the escalator at around 9:38am and that the assault took place only 33 seconds after his spottance.
Security guards reached the scene at 9.39am, or within a minute of the event happening, and soon chased the assume, but lost sight of him.
The security guard was seen returning to the abuse field at 9.40am to assist the victim and file a police statement.
The suspect was detained simply hours later, with a press conference held at 4 p.m. that day to reveal the announcement of his incarceration.
According to Mr. Sumit, the imprisonment of the suspect was possible because of the surveillance staff’s actions and the CCTV cameras installed at Skytrain facilities, of which there are at least 4,500 in 60 channels on the Green and Gold lines.
The 26-year-old believe eventually admitted to having a drug habit.
The victim, who was only a few stations away from the harassed station, claimed she pleaded for support but no one came to her recovery until another passenger, who had climbed to the top of the escalator, frightened the intruder.
However, the victim and her home met with Pol Col Nopphadon Changruean, commander of Muang city authorities, to following up on the case.
The victim revealed that she has absolutely lost faith in the state’s Skytrain system, adding that she is now frightened to go outside alone.
