BTS: K-pop star Suga fined $11,500 for drink-driving

Suga from K-pop boy band BTS has been fined 15 million won ($ 11, 500, £8, 600 ) for driving an electric scooter while intoxicated, according to media reports.

The singer, who goes by Min Yoon-gi, was detained in August after police discovered him intoxicated after he fell off a bicycle near his Seoul home.

His blood alcohol level was 0.227 %, far exceeding the 0.08 % threshold, say local media reports quoting police.

Next Friday, a district judge in Seoul issued the good.

The rapper, who also had his licence revoked, apologised in August, saying he had driven home in Seoul” thinking it was a close distance” and” ]forgot ] that you ca n’t use an electric scooter under the influence”.

” This is completely my duty with no excuses, despite no harm or damage to any home.”

He had stated in a speech,” I apologise to those who have been hurt by my mistake and unjust behavior, and I will guarantee that this does not occur again in the future.”

In the days that followed, Suga faced criticism, with some requesting that he left BTS. Although many of Suga’s followers had even rallied in his defense in this instance, K-pop gods in South Korea are typically expected to work a squeaky clean picture.

The 31-year-old has been declared unfit for regular fight duty and is now serving as a social support agent in the military.
