Boyfriend of accused policewoman in maid-beating case surrenders

A brother of a local politician and boyfriend of a policewoman falsely accused of physically abusing her maid, a former soldier, surrendered to police in Cha-am district of Phetchaburi province on Thursday.

It is the latest twist in the story of political intrigue and influence that has gripped social media and made popular headlines.

Khomsit Jangphanit, young brother of the Photharam municipal mayor within Ratchaburi province, had been accompanied by a lawyer to Cha-am police station where he acknowledged a charge of colluding in physical misuse.

He or she was implicated with a woman who worked well as a maid designed for his policewoman sweetheart, whom she has offender of illegal detention and abuse.

Pol Cpl Kornsasi Buayem, 43, of Special Branch Bureau 1 of the Regal Thai Police (RTP), turned herself into police in Ratchaburi on Saturday and was charged with dereliction of responsibility, intimidation, depriving a personof her liberty, physical abuse plus human trafficking.

The policewoman surrendered   after her former employee told reporters she had been jailed, physically abused and mistreated by the girl boss before lastly managing to run away. Her tale snapped up headlines and motivated the national police chief to order an urgent investigation.

The torture allegations had been first exposed over the Hone Krasae programme on TV Channel three or more last Thursday. The 30-year-old victim claimed Pol Cpl Kornsasi had burned her with a hair curler and smacked her with a metal fishing rod, causing nose plus head injuries. The girl also said the girl employer once dispersed alcohol on her hair an set this on fire.

Upon arriving at Cha-am police train station on Thursday early morning, Mr Khomsit has been immediately taken to notice Pol Lt Col Chamnarn Boonmor, key investigator handling the situation, for questioning, mentioned a source.

Around 9. 30am on Thursday, the previous maid arrived at Cha-am police station, accompanied by lawyer Phiphat Lamjuan, to oppose law enforcement bail for Mr Khomsit. She stated she feared there can be witness interference in case bail were granted.

She also feared meant for herself and her family as the falsely accused man was an influential figure and still resided in Ratchaburi state. She would oppose bail at the court as well, she said.

On Wednesday, Pol Lt Gen Surachate Hakparn, assistant national police key, told an information programe that Pol Cpl Kornsasi told law enforcement   the lady had graduated having a vocational certificate in accounting in Ratchaburi.  

According to Pol Luxury touring Gen Surachate, the woman applied to be a police officer and finally secured the work with the help of someone the lady referred to as “phu yai”, or a senior shape, in 2017.

She got helped her accuser get a job being a soldier, she mentioned, but details of just how she became the girl maid were not revealed.

Pol Lt Gen Surachate said the policewoman claimed she furthermore worked as a planner for a senator yet there was no evidence to back that will up.

Earlier, Thai press reported that the 30-year-old victim had informed police Pol Cpl Kornsasi claimed the lady was the wife of a senator.
