City Hall will relax regulations to allow students enrolled in 437 schools under the supervision to don casual wear once per week, says deputy Bangkok governor Sanont Wangsangboon.

The relaxed rules to get uniforms will also apply at scouts. Looser rules for hairstyles are likewise planned within the City Hall announcement.

However , Mr Sanont said the details are still getting examined by City Hall’s legal group to ensure they do not conflict with education ministry directives.

It is not clear which will take precedence in the event the two can’t be reconciled.

This individual expects the announcement to be published within two weeks.

The deputy governor discussed the proposals on Saturday  during a speech on youth and political involvement at Thammasat University’s Tha Prachan campus.

Children’s rights advocates have argued against rigorous regulations governing students’ hairstyles and the school dress code.

Many recommends view the uniform principle as an infringement of students’ human legal rights.

Many propose that school suggestions be revised in order to reflect present tendencies. Schools enforcing rigid hairstyle rules also have come under open fire.

Mister Sanont also mentioned City Hall attaches importance to variety in regard to learning plus plans to motivate discussions about the matter and promote learning beyond the class room.

Most of the time, learning takes place outdoors classrooms, he said — and in their view coffee shops can also be a learning place, just like colleges.

However , openness to diversity is crucial to motivate learning among college students.

“Today is an important day for youth, and the issue should be discussed a lot more, ” he stated. “Bangkok is a place of diversity, and colleges are open spaces for it.

“Bangkok has 437 schools, 34 libraries, local museums and more under its legislation, ” he stated.

“These areas aren’t just for studying only, inch he said.

“As Bangkok governor Chadchart Sittipunt always stresses: ‘Education isn’t as essential as learning. ‘”

Earlier, Mr Chadchart rebuked the Interior Ministry’s order to have provinces hand out scout uniforms to boys and girls, saying while the order was designed to ease the financial burden of mother and father, it must not develop financial constraints meant for City Hall.
