Secretary of State Antony Blinken, a member of the US , stated on Friday ( Oct 11 ) that the potential for conflict to spread to Asia was high, calling for everything to be done to prevent “all-out war” in Lebanon.
At Friday’s East Asia Summit in Laos, Blinken claimed Washington was determined to use politics to try to control the situation in the face of what he called an Iranian-led plane of opposition. The Middle East conflict was a key topic.
” The intense focus of the United States, which has been the case going back a year… ( is ) preventing these conflicts from spreading. And we’re working on that every day”, Blinken told a press conference.
” We’re working very hard through geopolitics and punishment to stop that from occurring.” There’s also clearly deep concern that we share about the situation of children, girls, and men in Gaza”.
According to Blinken, the US has stressed to Israel how crucial it is to meet the humanitarian needs of those in Gaza. Additionally, it was in Israel’s best curiosity that those who were forced from their houses by conflicts in Lebanon can gain.
The annual summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations ( ASEAN ) also included meetings with leaders and top diplomats from India, China, Japan, the United States, Russia, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand, as well as United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
Friday’s debate included the conflict in Ukraine, Myanmar’s legal war, climate change, conflicts in the Taiwan Strait and worry about conflicts in the South China Sea, a crucial conduit for at least US$ 3 trillion in annual ship-borne business.
