Big tree on City Plaza grounds cut down after toppling on road and crushing vehicles on Sunday

SINGAPORE: On Sunday afternoon( Sep 10 ), a large tree at City Plaza toppled over and fell on several vehicles andnbsp. The mall has hired an arborist to look at the remaining trees on its property.

The trees fell on Sunday around 1pm, according to a representative for City Plaza’s mall management in response to questions from TODAY.

One person was evaluated for minor injuries, but the Singapore Civil Defence Force ( SCDF) stated that they did not want to be taken to the hospital.

Crowds of people can be seen gathered around the downed trees in the rain in a TikTok videos. Some can be seen squeezing under the trees trees to make their way through the throng.

The film also depicts a number of vehicles on the road that are entrapped beneath the tree’s toppled trees, with some of the cars’ roofs clearly being crushed by their weight.

The store control is in the process of removing the dirt on site, according to a City Plaza director on Monday.

The spokesperson added that despite the mall management’s existing & nbsp contract with a landscape maintenance company, there had been no obvious signs that the tree was in danger of collapsing.

According to the spokesperson,” We will engage a certified arborist / landscaping company to prescribe and instruct appropriate tree pruning directives for addressing safety concerns to pedestrians and other road users.”

The store added that no claims for vehicle damage have been made to it.
