Big haul of bullets seized from illegal migrants

Ammo discovered at the home in Kanchanaburi where nine citizens from Myanmar were staying

KANCHANABURI: The imprisonment of nine improper refugees from Myanmar has led to the discovery of nearly 3, 000 shots in a home in Muang area where they were staying, authorities said on Tuesday.

Around 7pm, a policeman police discovered a group of people suspected of being unlawful immigrants hiding along the side of the Ban Kao-Huai Nam Khao Road in the Muang district’s tambon Ban.

When the commanders refused to provide the Myanmar nationals with access documents, they were unable to do so. All were interrogated at the Muang city authorities place.

According to a police investigation, the people had been staying at a home in tambon Ban Kao before they were arrested. When authorities searched the house, they found four paper boxes containing 2, 750 guns.

One of the offenders, identified only as Daeng, has been charged with assisting improper workers to enter the country, helping them escape arrest and unlawful possession of weapons. The others were accused of breaking the law.
