A fire that gutted Yaowarat ( Bangkok’s Chinatown ) was put under control late on Saturday night after it erupted at around 9pm and injured about 30 people.

Firefighters were informed that the fire started at 8.42pm on Saturday in the Trok Pho group on Yaowarat Road in the Samphanthawong area. The 3, 200- square- inch extended- position group was packed with about 30 sturdy houses.

At 11.16 p.m., firefighters deployed about 40 fire machines to handle the flame.

A portion of the seven-story New Empire Hotel was damaged by the fireplace. Through the barrel of a hearth engine, firefighters safely rescued guests.

There were about 30 hurt individuals. The majority of them smoke inhaled air and are seniors. There were no accident reports.

As firefighters line charred debris, a portion of Yaowarat Road was temporarily closed from the Chaloem Buri crossing to the Odeon roundabout for public safety.

About 280 persons were affected and sought support. A portion of them found refuge at Wat Traimit. The majority of them are employed by various regions and neighbors.
