On his first visit to the throne since taking the throne, His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua made an appearance on December 9, 2016, in the southern state of Krabi to preside over a meeting to inaugurate a new municipal hall, much to the happiness of those who poured onto the roads to greet him.

Local people in Krabi and adjacent regions, including Phuket, Phangnga and Surat Thani, flocked to get a glimpse of the King.

Additionally, he added that the historic event was welcomed by a music group of 45 pupils from Ammat Phanit Nukul School who performed the Royal Anthem in honor of the King.
The five-storey fresh municipal hall building, which is situated on Uttarakit Road in northern Krabi, houses several local company offices.
According to Mr. Phinit, the provincial hall’s structure was finished in 2014 at a cost of approximately 113 million baht.
He also said that a unit of a tao ying strap, a local fishing boat, and one of Krabi’s images, may be presented to the King, along with other well-known local materials, including crabs, and native fruits.
Ekkaraj Mukem, the director of the Muslim-friendly newspaper Alami Magazine Thailand, claimed he and his wife had arrived in Krabi from Bangkok to include the royal attend.
He expressed his delight at being able to view the historic event along with local Muslims and other inhabitants.
Rojana Nuea-orn, a 32-year-old Krabi citizen, said she came early in the morning to allowed His Majesty.
She expressed her happiness that the King had chosen Krabi as the location for a royal attend for the first time.
