Family of slain building tycoon satisfied but former minister could still appeal to Supreme Court
The Court of Appeal has confirmed the Legal Court’s death phrase against former mouthpiece commerce minister Banyin Tangpakorn for the homicide of billionaire building firm owner Chuwong Sae Tang within a staged car crash within 2015.
The court mentioned on Thursday that all the evidence it reviewed supported the decision to uphold the ruling of the Phra Khanong Criminal Court within 2021 against the former MP for Nakhon Sawan.
The ruling had been read out at the Phra Khanong court as Banyin is definitely serving his phrase at Bang Kwang Central Prison.
Wanpen Thanathammasiri, Chuwong’s sister, said after the ruling that will she was satisfied with the court’s decision and was prepared to fight the case in the Supreme Court in case need be.
It is not yet known whether Banyin may pursue his case in the highest court.
Ms Wanpen said it absolutely was a long and difficult seven-year fight for justice on her younger brother because there were no witnesses in the case. As well, the lady said, the accused was knowledgeable in order to came to the law because he was a former policeman.
She thanked police on the Crime Suppression Department, Central Police Forensic Science Division and other experts for their hard work on the case.
The injured parties — public prosecutors, Ms Wanpen plus Sirirat Sae Tang, Chuwong’s widow — first filed their particular complaint against the previous politician in 2015 after Chuwong has been killed on 06 26 in that calendar year.
Banyin was convicted associated with conspiring to kill Chuwong, and concealing the crime to get his own vested interest and to evade prosecution. According to the criminal and appeal courts, Chuwong did not die within the car crash, which was not an accident, but was killed.
Banyin told police that will Chuwong was a passenger in a car which he was driving once they had dined jointly in Bangkok upon June 26, 2015. He claimed their car crashed into a tree, killing Chuwong, who was sitting in the front. He insisted the crash was any sort of accident.
However , forensic evidence suggested Chuwong had been murdered, and pointed to Banyin having masterminded the crime.
He was thought to have wiped out the businessman for the large amount of shares in the latter’s firm. The shares had been illegally transferred to Banyin and placed in the ownership of two women with whom this individual was romantically included.
Banyin is also serving the life sentence for that abduction and homicide of Wirachai Sakuntaprasoet, an elder sibling of Phanida Sakuntaprasoet, the judge who had been trying the Chuwong situation, in an effort to pressure the girl to drop the case.
