After two years of operation, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration ( BMA ) claims that ATC technology and other innovations have reduced travel time in busy areas of Bangkok by 25 %.
Since being implemented at some roads in the area in May 2023, the ATC program, which calculates traffic signal timing, has increased traffic stream by 10 % during busy periods and by 30 % during off-peak days, according to BMA official Aekvarunyoo Amrapala on Wednesday.
He claimed that the area has also set up CCTV cameras to track traffic violations in numerous locations using artificial intelligence. Additionally, it has made routes better for the comfort and convenience of drivers.  ,
He claimed that new visitors management devices were installed in 50 of the capital’s 50 locations in 2023, reducing total travel time by 25 %.
According to Mr. Aekvarunyoo, the improvements may be extended to over 70 more crowded places this time.
In order to help reduce traffic congestion, the BMA is also urging citizens to use non-motorized and public transport.
