As part of the Orange Line electric train route’s construction, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration ( BMA ) will close and demolish three crucial traffic flyovers, which will cause heavy traffic congestion for motorists.
In order to make way for the western section of the MRT Orange Line, which will run from Bang Khun Non to Min Buri ( Suwinthawong ), the BMA announced on Wednesday its intention to close and dismantle the flyovers at the Pratunam, Ratchathewi, and Sutthawat intersections.
Work on the Orange Line’s Pratunam and Ratchathewi channels will begin on Friday, with original closures and transportation games being planned for the area’s Pratunam and Ratchathewi roads.
By closing roads in smaller increments and releasing a thorough construction schedule, the project, led by Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Co Ltd ( BEM), aims to reduce traffic impacts.
The Pratunam runway, Thailand’s first bridge constructed in 1966, may be destroyed in March 2026, while the Sutthawat Ratchathewi flyovers will be demolished in January 2016 and January 15, respectively.
Between April and November 2026, a fresh Pratunam bridge may be constructed.
Additionally, the Orange Line project may contain digging and rerouting utilities for underwater tunnel construction.
The BMA is concerned about the significant customers that will be anticipated as a result of the flyover closures in some of the busiest parts of the capital.
It has been working with city offices to improve traffic flow and make sure road sections can be used during the day, with work primarily occurring at night.
