On Writers ‘ Day, a Bangkok Post pictures of one of the three animals being repatriated to Indonesia from Thailand received a congratulatory prize.

The picture” Homeward Bound,” taken by Bangkok Post shooter Somchai Poomlard, who was awarded a 5, 000 bass money award, was honored on Tuesday with the prestigious Isra Amantakul Award.

Shizuka, a 7-year-old animal, is depicted in the picture, which was printed in the Dec. 21&nbsp version of the newspaper. It was one of the three monkeys waiting to be taken back to Indonesia from the Suvarnabhumi aircraft that day. There were only three sexual apes in the group, Shizuka being the only one of them.

Before being given a chance to gain home next month, authorities had taken the animals from a wildlife trafficking ring that was detained in Thailand in 2016 and sent them for treatment at a wildlife sanctuary in Ratchaburi.

As the vehicles carrying the creatures arrived at the airport, Mr. Somchai claimed after being informed of the honor that he was trying to create a picture that would stand out from those being captured by another photographers, who were concentrating on all three.

” I observed Shizuka watching out of that tiny window as I was looking at the box in which it was kept. I wanted to show how she felt on her way back home using what was reflected in her gaze,” he said.
