Bangkok named world’s 2nd best city for food

Bangkok, which was in fifth place last month, comes in second place on Time Out magazine’s record of the country’s 20 Best Cities of 2025, following New Orleans in the US.

Bangkok’s rise was mostly attributable to the extraordinary palatability of its meals and simple access, according to deputy government spokeswoman Sasikarn Wattanachan, who released the rankings yesterday.

The study found that the state’s foods scene offers high-quality foods that are quick and convenient, from quick-service street vendors that serve dishes right away to food delivery services that let everyone eat whatever they like.

Bangkok is regarded as a cooking gateway rather than a place for fine dining, according to the survey. According to the survey, Yaowarat ( Chinatown ) continues to be the city’s top gastronomic destination, known for its famous dishes like guay jab ( rolled noodle soup with pork ), late-night rice porridge and wok-toasted chestnuts, as well as nightly cocktail bars.

Banthat Thong Road, formerly a quiet neighborhood, has just been named the nation’s 14th best streets by Time Out, making it a buzzing food hotspot. According to the survey, the city will become even more appealing to international chefs if more mid-level restaurants start serving up imaginative yet inexpensive dishes.
