Following a promise made by their leaders to increase transport links, Thailand and Malaysia may revive a train range between Bangkok and Butterworth in the next three months.

Suriya Jungrungruangkit, the minister of transportation, announced on Friday that the resumpted operation may begin in July and that it would mark a significant milestone in the development of ties between the two nations.

In 2016, the State Railway of Thailand ( SRT ) discontinued its express train service between Butterworth and the Thai capital, which also serves the border train station at Padang Besar.

Mr. Suriya and his Malaysian equivalent, Anthony Loke, discussed the restored support on Friday in Bangkok. Another planned coach link may join Tumpat in Kelantan state of Malaysia to Sungai Kolok place in Narathiwat province.

The SRT partners with KTMB, which stands for Keretapi Tanah Malayu.

More cross-border transportation options are among the possibilities offered by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra.
