A senior Indian opposition leader is scheduled to resign as chief minister of Jharkhand state on Wednesday ( 3 July ), according to a key party official who confirmed the news on Wednesday ( July 3 ). He was released from prison on bail on Wednesday.
Hemant Soren, 48, who was arrested and jailed in February on bribery charges, was granted parole on Jun 28 in the northeast position.
Hemant had stepped down from his position before being taken into custody, handing the reins to Champai Soren, his group coworker. The two gentlemen are not related.
On Wednesday night, Champai, 61, in a broadly expected shift, tendered his resignation to the government’s governor.
” We had a change in leadership at that time, so I got the responsibility”, Champai told investigators.
” Now that he is up, our ally has chosen him as our head, and I have resigned from my article”.
