Badminton: Singapore’s Loh Kean Yew falls to defending Olympic champion Axelsen, exits Paris Olympics

PARIS: Loh Kean Yew’s run at the Paris Olympics ended on Friday ( Aug 2 ), after he was beaten by reigning men’s singles champion Viktor Axelsen in the quarter-finals.

At the Porte de La Chapelle Arena, earth number 2 Axelsen was in imperious type beating earth number 12 Loh 21-9, 21-17 in 49 days.

Loh scraped his right side diving for a returning early in the game because the Singaporean had already started badly. To stop the bleeding and change the grip of the world number 12, it would need to be taped up.
