B66m sought from university over student’s death

KHON KAEN: Mom of a medical student who died in an accident on the Khon Kaen University campus in Muang area on Aug 10 is seeking sixty six million baht in compensation from the university.

Arunnapa Watanapanich, or Nong Eye, 19, the second-year student in the faculty of medicine, was hit by a bus operated by university’s faculty of nursing at a T-junction on the campus.

Her mom, Nitaya Rungsathit, 55, is seeking settlement from the university.

Police organized talks between Microsoft Nitaya and Assoc Prof Piansak Pakdi, deputy rector meant for student affairs, Asst Prof Pakwilai Srisaeng, dean of the teachers of nursing, and the driver of the bus involved.

Pol Col Preecha Kengsarakij, the Muang police superintendent, plus Pol Lt Col Supan Sukpilaikul, an investigator, were existing as witnesses.

Ms Nitaya said afterwards that will she had requested 66 million baht in compensation. The amount was based on Arunnapa having graduated at the age of 25 and operating as a doctor in government service till she retired at 60 with an typical income of five, 000 baht daily. She would have gained about 66 mil baht in total.
