B5.1bn soft power spend too dear: PM

According to Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, the government will review the 5.1 billion baht budget that was set aside for national arts and culture promotion projects by the National Soft Power Development Committee ( NSPDC ) because it is deemed excessive.

Following the committee’s conclusion of its next meeting on November 30 with a 5.164 billion baht proposal to mobilize festival events, cooking affairs, tourism, entertainment, sports, and other activities for the greater good of the nation, the PM stated that he wanted to ensure that every dollar spent on the budget would be used as efficiently as possible.

The leading stated that while the case supports the agency’s work, he agreed that the budget needed to be revised.

He responded that those officials would participate in the budget update approval when questioned about the involvement of linked ministries, such as the Culture Ministry and the Hospitality and Sports Ministry.

The council will also review the requested funds on December 14 before submitting its last demand to the National Soft Power Committee somewhere in early January of next year, according to a NSPDC cause.

In response, Varawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Social Development and Human Security, stated that he thought the council had competent individuals working on it and that his department also supports the advancement of gentle power.

According to Mr. Varawut,” I want the people to wait and see the agency’s work results because that will store the criticism.”

In addition to having a budget, the government will also establish the Thailand Creative Content Agency ( Thacca ), which will concentrate on promoting various high-potential industries.
