B41.9bn for projects: PM

Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has approved a 41.9-billion-baht budget to fund over 1,700 development projects across the country in the 2024 fiscal year, said government spokesman Anucha Burapachaisri.

Mr Anucha said the budget, which was announced at a meeting of the Integrated Provincial Administrative Policy Committee, will be used to support a total of 1,747 projects nationwide.

The meeting was attended by Foreign Affairs Minister Don Pramudwinai, Finance Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith and Deputy Commerce Minister Sinit Lertkrai, he said.

Gen Prayut said that projects should help solve major issues in each province and reminded governors to take a proactive and transparent approach to solving local problems.

He also urged the Budget Bureau and provincial organisations to monitor the progress of the projects, the spokesman said.

Mr Anucha also said that Gen Prayut had encouraged the committee to modernise its processes, by involving stakeholders.

All projects should be practical and answer the needs of the people, the prime had added, said Mr Anucha.
