NARATHIWAT- A authorities officer who helped run a small school for children was killed along with his son, a police officer, on Tuesday night when their delivery truck was ambushed.
Pol Lt Col Suwit Chuaythewarit, 56, and his brother Pol Snr Sgt Maj Dome Chuaythewarit, 35, were attacked on Sri Sakhon-Chanae Road in tambon Sri Banphot of Sri Sakhon city about 9.50am, authorities said.
Their car was flipped over by an blast of a weapon lodged in the side of the road.  ,
The Tua Ngo Border Patrol Police School in tambon Sri Banphot was led by Pol Lt Col Suwit. It is a key class with about 120 muslim children, none of them local Thai speakers.
Pol Lt Col Suwit was a arab and a native of the southern state of Phatthalung. At the frontier patrol officers class, he and his brother collaborated with 11 other instructors.
The two gentlemen were reported to be on their way to purchase school supplies when they were killed.  ,
For his outstanding contribution to education and the improvement of students ‘ lives, Pol Lt Col Suwit was presented the Princess Maha Chakri Award ten years ago. During his youth, he had studied at another border patrol officers college in his local state of Phatthalung. That had given him the desire to work as a border guard police instructor.
He claimed earlier that he had made the decision to train at the distant Tua Ngo Border Patrol Police School in Narathiwat years ago because he wanted to give the students it, who did not speak Thai, access to education.
His goal was to impart Thai to them so that they could pursue further education in areas crucial to their growth.
His school even focused on training ethics and sufficient.
