At least two dead after landslides in southwest China

BEIJING: &nbsp, Landslides in southwest China on Saturday ( Aug 3 ) destroyed homes and caused a highway bridge to collapse, killing at least two people and leaving around 17 others missing, authorities said.

State broadcaster CCTV said “local hill streams and landslides” swept aside part of Ridi community in Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan province.

The catastrophe killed two people and left 12 missing, CCTV reported, adding that” the crisis situation is undergoing more verification”.

A bridge hole bridge collapsed along the bridge between Kangding and Luding, according to Garze’s regional government in a separate speech.

According to the government’s social media post, “one man has been rescued and five are missing,” at least three lorries had plunged off the road as of 11am.

According to the statement,” a number of evacuation forces are currently present at the field in order to carry out their work.”
