As part of the president’s modernization ideas for the armed forces, Defence Minister Sutin Klungsang is proposing to give some military-owned land to locals.

Following a Defence Council meeting, RAdm Thanitpong Sirisawetsak, the Defense Ministry’s official, informed the media that Mr. Sutin had given policies to the product leaders of the ministry and the four armed forces to serve as guidelines for carrying out their duties.

According to Mr. Sutin, the ministry must collaborate with different laws and legal requirements.

In order to strengthen national security and public health, as well as to enhance the agency’s operational program while supporting the government, he said the commanders may work to put the national plan and authorities plan into action.

The government is moving quickly to modernize the armed forces, according to RAdm Thanitpong, who has come under fire for overspending on purchasing arms.

The modernization program, which will help improve the living conditions of the public, boost the economy, and strengthen the nation as a whole, includes returning unoccupied land that is under the army’s supervision to the general public.

The 2nd Army Area originally intended to return army-owned territory in Nong Wua So, Udon Thani, so that visitors could use it for farming. To determine the soil conditions and measure the length of the property, a survey is currently being conducted. The government also intends to reduce the number of conscripts in favor of deliberate enlistment while maintaining the army’s ability to defend itself.

The government also wants to rebuild some of the ministry-affiliated firms and reform the equipped forces to make them more efficient and lean.

According to Mr. Sutin, procurement of weapons and armaments may be streamlined to promote accountability. For initiatives need to be held accountable, he said.

Additionally, military officers’ and their families’ security may be improved.
