The Transformative Justice Collective ( TJC), an activist group that fights against the death penalty, received a new Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act ( POFMA ) order on Saturday ( Dec 14 ).
The latest purchase is its second in five weeks following previous commands issued , on Aug 8, Aug 11, Oct 5 and Nov 26.
It relates to a fake statement of fact concerning the planning of a inmate’s execution made in comments by TJC on Facebook, Instagram, X and TikTok on Dec 3.
A death row slave was scheduled for murder before he had the opportunity to appeal for mercy in front of the president, according to the papers. This is not true”, the Ministry of Home Affairs said in a press release.
A death row prisoner’s even execution is scheduled after all other appeals and the leniency process are exhausted.
TJC may be required to have a correction notice alongside the articles with a hyperlink to the government’s explanation.
Additionally, TikTok has received a qualified corrections directive via the platform’s TJC article. To comply with this requirement, TikTok may send a correction notice to all Singaporean end-users who have or will get the article.
More explanations of the claims made by TJC are provided in an essay on the federal fact-checking website Objectively.
