SEOUL: A Jeju Air passenger jet that departed Gimpo Airport in Seoul for Jeju on Monday ( Dec 30 ) experienced an unidentified landing-gear issue after takeoff and returned to the airport , where it landed safely, Yonhap news reported, citing an unnamed source.
According to the South Korean news agency,  , Jeju Air Flight 7C101 detected the issue shortly after takeoff at about 6.30am ( 5.30am, Singapore time ).
The airport informed the 161 passengers on board about the electrical problem, and the flight then returned to the airport at 7:30 am.
” Jeju Air plans to resume operations after switching to a replacement aircraft”, reported Yonhap.
The plane involved was an a  Boeing 737-800, the same type as the one that crashed at Muan International Airport the day before.
On Sunday, the Jeju Air planes carrying 181 citizens from Thailand crash-landed,  , killing all aboard except two aircraft servants who were pulled from the twisted aircraft.
Jeju Air flight 7C2216 skidded off the runway and crashed into a wall before bursting into flames as smoke from the engines rushed away.
According to fire officials, the collision caused the plane to “almost entirely destroy” and resulted from a bird strike, according to officials.
