JOHOR BAHRU: On Monday ( Aug 5 ), the man who is accused of abducting a six-year-old girl in Johor Bahru was remanded to assist with police inquiries into a case involving the possession of child pornography and sexual abuse.
Magistrate Azureen Sahira Sauffe Afandi granted the 31-year-old boy’s trial for six weeks, starting Monday until Aug 10, following an application made at the Kulai Magistrate’s Court.
The trial is intended to allow for further research in accordance with the Penal Code’s Part 292 and Section 10 of the Physical Offenses Against Children Act 2017.
Prior to being released on officers bail, the suspect was originally held on remand for 13 weeks from July 23 through August 4 to help with investigations under Sections 365 of the Penal Code and Section 14 ( a ) of the Physical Crimes Against Children Act 2017.
According to reports, Johor’s police captain M. Kumar claimed that the suspect was rearrested on August 4 after his home in Kulai, Johor, contained a number of sex toys, adult pornographic materials, and child sexual abuse.
The six-year-old child was reported missing by her parents on July 20 at a shopping mall in Iskandar Puteri, but she was later found safe at a budget hotel in Batang Kali, Selangor, on July 23.
In order to help with the investigation involving the case, authorities made five arrests overall, including three people and two women.
Following the government ‘ failure to expand their trial time, four of them have since been released on police loan.
