On Wednesday, a federal committee visited the job sites for the delayed U-Tapao Airport and Eastern Aviation City growth.
Along with Vice Minister for the Office of Prime Minister Nahathai Tiwphaingam and Rayong government Traipob Wongtrairat, Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai led the delegation’s trip to the aircraft in Ban Chang city.
Tharit Issarayangyun, deputy secretary-general of the Eastern Economic Corridor ( EEC ), presented a progress report on the project, which is aimed at standardising the aviation industry as per the government’s plan to bolster investments in the EEC.
The progress was reported in two sections: the legal and the private sectors.
According to Mr Tharit, the Royal Thai Navy (RTN) is responsible for some parts of the project.
He said the army just approved a expenditure of 16.2 billion baht for the program’s growth, including the design of the following airport and tarmac. The RTN is now looking for companies and professionals for the building, he added.
In terms of the program’s power facilities provided by the state, more than 95 % progress was reported.
He said essential instalments, including the first stage of a liquid supply grow and a wastewater treatment system, are full.
Mr Tharit said that a 15-megawatt solar power plant, light, and cooling systems are near execution, while the design of the airplane refuelling support systems is at a halfway point.
Mr. Tharit stated that the EEC will send a notice to contractors to begin building the next terminal building, a extra concourse, and the shopping center this year.
He predicted that the job would be finished in five years, with the openings of the 2029 U-Tapao Airport and Eastern Aviation City anticipated in 2029.
Mr. Tharit added that structure was originally scheduled to start in 2019 and be finished this year.
