
Malaysian authorities and the airline reported on Thursday ( Mar 27 ) that an AirAsia flight headed for China returned to Kuala Lumpur after an engine problem shortly after takeoff and made a safe landing with no injuries reported.
Aircraft AK128, an Airbus A320, was headed to Shenzhen, but expected to” an unusual sign in one of the machines,” budget airline AirAsia said in a statement, the plane retreated to Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
A “pneumatic duct burst” that occurred immediately after the plane’s 9.59pm departure on Wednesday, according to Malaysia’s Selangor state fire department, ignited a fire in the proper engine.
Capital A-owned AirAsia claimed that its inspection revealed that the engine had not been ignitable, but that a destroyed duct had pushed hot air into the engine.
The fire department said no one was hurt after the planes landed safely somewhat past midnight due to the fire department’s claim that all passengers and crew were evacuated the plane.
All 171 people, according to AirAsia, were moved to a different plane that made an overnight landing at Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport on Thursday night.
The airport added that the first plane is scheduled to return to service on March 31.
According to local media reports, Malaysia’s aviation authority may speak with the transport minister about the event.
