The Transport Ministry ordered a feasibility study to be conducted on the relocation ofBangkok Portin Klong Toey district after a poll showed people’s positive feedback on the project.
In an effort to meet public demand and enhance the port area, Deputy Minister Manaporn Charoensri on Monday issued an order to the Port Authority of Thailand ( PAT ) and related sectors to review the relocation plan.
A government conference on April 2 approved the proposal to shift the 2, 353-rai interface away from the city. It aims to combat place traffic congestion and pollution.
Ms Manaporn’s attempt, in her power as the chief officer of PAT activities, followed results from a research by North Bangkok University, which involved 2, 500 responders from July 22-31.
The poll showed that 70.7 % of respondents supported the transfer.
Of those, 40.2% believed the relocation would help reduce traffic congestion and air pollution and boost the local economy through theBangkok PortRedevelopment, a mixed-use area project.
Ms Manaporn said Touch plans to divide the city’s territory into seven parts. Most areas, covering 934.2 ray, are located on customs premises and are intended for PAT’s functional use.
Approximately 673 ray of the property will be available for hire: 152 for the public field and 521 for personal providers.
Another 150 ray is to be used by condition companies.
The growth plan also covers 232 ray of the Klong Toey tenement area and 203 ray of customers region, including roads, rail and waterways.
These areas may be developed into five new zones, comprising mixed-use office buildings, medical facilities, intelligent society residences, retail and museum spaces, a sports complex, a playground and a bright port.
A semi-automated cargo handling system and a separate cruise terminal would be present, according to Ms. Manaporn.
