After two significant earthquakes in the area that killed more than 1, 000 persons, a fresh earthquake has struck northern Afghanistan.
According to the US Geological Survey( USGS ), a 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck close to Herat. It was four miles away at a level of 6.3 km.
There have been no information of any deaths so much.
According to the UN’s Unicef kids company, women and children made up more than 90 % of those who perished in the earlier earthquakes.
The USGS reported that the epicenter of the most recent earthquake was 30 kilometers north-west of Herat, the third-largest town in Afghanistan and a short distance from the Persian border.
Since Afghanistan is close to the confluence of the European and American geological plates, it experiences frequent earthquakes, particularly in the Hindu Kush hill range.
