Centre operator NTUC Health, for example, late started offering material combat as a man- only exercise. Since February, when the program first launched, the number of sign-ups has doubled.

Vincent Lau, the director of the NTUC Health Active Ageing Centres, reported that a large proportion of those enrolled in lively age programs are women. He speculated that this could be because people believe the programs are more geared toward people. &nbsp,

We’ve seen that women start filling up the games very quickly when we open a program to both males and females, he said. &nbsp,

He added that only adult experiences may improve the ability of participants to interact with one another.

” For men, they tend to keep to themselves a bit more. They do n’t really share isolation or social isolation, according to Mr. Lau. &nbsp,

” But, by expanding a program that is only for men,” we find that we can provide more opportunities for men to share experiences, establish relationships, and allow them to start up.

Among the participants in metal conflict is 64- yr- ancient Ng Pan Seng, who has become a standard at NTUC Health’s centre in Jurong.

” In an just- people action, we may speak more freely”, he said. &nbsp,

More men are showing up at one St. Luke’s ElderCare center in Sengkang as a result of a new billiards club that was launched six months ago.

” We’re certainly seeing 20 to 30 per cent more people joining us in our actions”, said Mr Bernard Wan, associate director of group- based services at St Luke’s ElderCare. &nbsp,

He said that in normal activities offered at its areas, such as art and craft, cooking classes and heath talks, about 80 to 90 per share of participants are women. &nbsp,

” We now have another men-focused activities like lawn bowling, as well as our “repair otak,” where men come together to repair appliances, in addition to our swimming club. We therefore intend to expand the number of men-focused actions in all of our active-ageing centers.

St. Luke’s Eldercare is organizing a billiards game between the two centers to make new friends.
