SINGAPORE: People used accounts belonging to dead members to enter ActiveSG swimming pools and gyms, the Auditor-General’s Office ( AGO ) said on Wednesday ( Jul 17 ).
The AGO found that 18 dying people ‘ addresses were used for 283 admittance. These people have been deceased for” as long as 4.8 times” before the times of access, the report said.
Of the 18 records, one bill had been misused for 201 admittance.
ActiveSG sports facilities are spread out throughout Singapore, and participation is free for both continuous residents and Singapore. Customers can book features, such as basketball courts, or obtain passes to enter pools and gyms.
The AGO conducted information study and analyze checks on the admissions records of ActiveSG lakes and facilities from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023 as part of its annual inspection.  ,
It discovered situations where ActiveSG people ‘ moves were being abused. People ‘ passes are not permitted to get transferred to other members in accordance with its terms.
However, AGO discovered proof that users had shared their runs with other users for access to the company’s facilities.
Its people were also discovered to have used ActiveSG specific passes, or per-entry moves at reduced rates, to access pools or trainers even though they were not available for those benefits.
These studies suggested that there were insufficient controls over admission to ActiveSG pools and facilities, adding that “revenue leakage” would result from these limitations for Sport Singapore ( SportSG).
SportSG collected S$ 8.13 million ( US$ 6.1 million ) in admission fees for ActiveSG pools and gyms for the financial year 2022/2023.
Posting OF PASSES
ActiveSG members can purchase regular catches for endless visits to pools and gyms at discounted rates for seniors and students.
AGO discovered 1, 860 admittance to ActiveSG pools and gyms where 339 part records ‘ passes were shared.
Members ‘ moves were used for access to an ActiveSG swimming or gym when their addresses were being used for access to the same or a different facility for 1, 834 of the admissions.
For the remaining 26 admissions, the time between the leave time at one sports center and the access time at another sports facility was “unduly small”- ranging from 3 seconds to 5 minutes- for the pass to have been used by the exact member.
When the possibility of moves being shared on different nights was taken into account, the real number of cases of people abusing their non-transferable runs was likely to be higher, according to AGO.
USE OF Reduced Moves
AGO reported that 22, 618 people made admissions using specific passes or per-entry passes that members were ineligible to purchase at discounted rates in their respective ActiveSG pools or gyms.  ,
These people were not available because they either did not meet the time requirements or had not been verified ActiveSG members.  ,
According to the AGO report, the majority of those enrollment, 20, 582 of which were made by 2, 563 people, abused free registration benefits for elders aged 65 and older.
