UN chief urges ‘maximum restraint’ in India, Pakistan standoff

UN envoy Antonio Guterres urged Pakistan and India to “maximum restraint” and step back from the brink of war on Monday ( May 5 ) as tensions between the two neighbors in South Asia soared.

Last month, New Delhi cited Islamabad as the source of a fatal harm on tourists on the American side of the disputed Kashmir region, which sparked a string of contentious threats and political measures.

Since the conflict started on Monday, the Pakistani military announced that it had conducted a following missile test.

According to Guterres, relationships have “banned out,” adding that they are at their “highest in years” in New York.
