Ittiporn Boonpracong, the head of the Election Commission (EC ), acknowledged Thitichet Nuchanat’s allegations of bribery by a former auditor-general.
According to a police report that Mr. Thitichet, the next head of the Office of the Auditor General, and a representative with the State Audit Office filed in March of last year, gave him a reward in exchange for a campaign for the latter, but he rejected it.
A group of legislators had earlier sent Mr. Ittiporn a plea to investigate the case. He claimed that because there is now a mechanism for investigation and that the commission must maintain neutrality, the poll body did not form a special committee to investigate it.
The legislators had argued that an investigation into the matter would help the EC maintain its reliability.
” If the EC looks into it, it would make itself look great and credible,” said Senator Kamrob Panyakaew.
The assessment official responsible for the corruption allegedly received an investigation and was fired from his position. He claimed he was being manipulated, and he is now bringing an appeal against the departure.
Due to the fact that the crime occurred while he was still in business, the police turned his case over to the prosecutor, who has since referred it to the NACC.
