Ong Ye Kung’s comments about the party’s policies were made by Singapore Democratic Party ( SDP ) chief Chee Soon Juan on Wednesday ( Apr 30 ), who claimed that the SDP’s proposals have no” snowball’s chance” of making a contribution to Singapore.
Dr. Chee, who claimed this was the People’s Action Party’s ( PAP ) “favorite playbook,” said,” Four words that I want to use with him: Criticise first, copy later.”
The prospect for Sembawang West SMC gave some examples, including the SDP’s proposal for an employment insurance program to assist retrenched workers in getting financial support for their re-employment.
Dr. Chee proposed a cutbacks insurance plan in which employees may receive three-quarters of their most recent income, with a cap on the prevailing middle income, for the first six months of unemployment.
Employees who are still unemployed after a half-year may be paid quarter of their final paycheck for the following six months. If they are eventually however without a job, this would be reduced to a third of their last-drawn income, according to information released in 2016.
On Wednesday, the SDP key compared it to the recently launched SkillsFuture Jobseeker Support program, which provides financial assistance to involuntary poor people who are low and middle-class.  ,
In accordance with the scheme, those who qualify will receive payouts that can be capped at a maximum of S$ 6, 000 ( US$ 4, 500 ) over a six-month period. They will need to finish all monthly career search-related tasks and earn a certain number of points in order to be eligible for the payments.  ,
In a straight fight against a team from SDP, Mr. Ong is leading a PAP team in Sembawang Group Representation Constituency ( GRC ), where the rally site close to Sun Plaza is located.
Dr. Chee argued that we could expand social safety nets, provide general healthcare, reform education to develop vital thinkers, combat inequality, and make policies more clear and responsive.
The SDP’s “vision” is” the journey to a truly prosperous Singapore, one where our people are happy and safe.”
The rally was the group’s seventh in seven times, with seven candidates speaking.
Party chairman Paul Tambyah gave a detailed explanation of how the SDP’s policies may operate from childhood to school and adulthood as one of the speakers.
” I know that this sounds like a kind of paradise, but it is all highly possible,” he said.
