As part of a probe into a shaman accused of receiving lavish gifts for the former first lady, South Korean prosecutors on Wednesday ( Apr 30 ) raided the country’s former president’s home, Yonhap reported.
The Constitutional Court earlier this month removed former senator Yoon Suk Yeol from all authority and privileges as a result of his fatal Dec. 3 martial law charter.
He was forced to move into Seocho, Seoul, from where he had previously resided for many years, and relocate there.
The trial conducted a raid on Yoon’s home” as part of its exploration into several suspicions over relations between his household and a questionable shaman,” according to South Korea’s Yonhap news agency.
A senior Unification Church standard is accused of handing the sorcerer, Jeon Seong-bae, a diamond necklace, a pleasure bag, and ginseng, which the shaman claims were given to Yoon’s wife, Kim Keon Hee, along with a chain of diamonds, jewelry, and a ginseng, which are common health products and can cost thousands of dollars.
Jeon claimed he never gave the expected presents to Kim because he had lost them, but local media reported that lawyers had received a text message from the head of the church organization, known as the Moonies, urging him to “give the collar back.”
