Deep Dive GE2025 Podcast: PAP’s Elysa Chen on being ‘kicked into politics’ and overcoming imposter syndrome

Steven:

How many of you were drinking drink? &nbsp,

Elysa:

Seven of us, four MPs, and three ( regular people ),

Steven:

Therefore, it’s a tea group! &nbsp,

Elysa:

But I asked the others who were there, after that, what was that all about? And they responded,” Oh, that’s an exam to be an MP.” I began laughing, and I thought,” OK, that’s my final tea period.” However, one drink program eventually led to the next, and I am now. But that’s the point, don’t you think?- tea lessons? It’s more about the discussions you’re having, the links you’re making than it is about what you’re drinking. &nbsp,

Steven:

But why would you pick this group over others? &nbsp,

Elysa:

I spent some time getting to know a lot of the PAP group members. I was pretty resistant at first, to be honest. the usual descriptions of things like that are paternal and out of touch. However, once you actually get to know them, there is a strong sense of respect. &nbsp, &nbsp,
