The governor claimed that officials were acting on knowledge that a Burmese man was operating an inside-the-warp facility for illegal entertainment. Around 150 Myanmar nationals were residing on the premises. Some gambling and the use of illicit drugs were apparently permitted.

According to an informed cause, those engaged in illegal activities were detained for questioning during the attack, and snooker furniture and other equipment were taken into lockdown. No official information about those held was made public.

The Samut Sakhon government claimed that the venue’s use was against the law. The majority of its customers were immigrant workers from Myanmar.
