Lenders will contact customers for verification if merely numbers registered since Jan. 1, 2022, are affected.

According to the minister of digital economy and society ( DES ), authorities will check the names of the foreign subscribers of , 700, 000 mobile phone numbers before deciding whether to terminate their mobile banking services in Thailand in June.
The mobile phone numbers have been recorded since Jan. 1, 2022, according to DES Minister Prasert Jantararuangtong. He claimed that he would check about 1.8 million mobile phone numbers that had not been registered to anyone in Thailand in addition to on 700, 000 of which had been registered to foreigners.
To reduce systems crime, the minister claims that the state requires the names of the users of mobile banking services and the titles of the subscribers of mobile phone numbers attached to the services to be similar. Then, mobile banking services will be discontinued.
Users of mobile banking services were required to follow the rule by April 30 ( this Wednesday ) and it was introduced on February 1. Then, June will end mobile banking services for phones that have been improperly registered.
Banks may tell these phone users and request that they make their registration data changes by April 30. Those who didn’t receive a request for like from their businesses through their mobile banking services, according to Mr. Prasert, may continue to use the services without any issues.
