Pakistani man arrested for identity theft

A Bangladeshi man has been detained for assuming the identification of a deceased Thai national for more than ten years, which allegedly allowed him to access benefits and services only available to Indian nationals.

The suspect, who was only identified as Zeshan, 41, was wanted on a Tuesday incarceration permit from the Criminal Court. Following a home invasion in Bangkok’s Thung Khru region on Wednesday, he was taken into police prison.

The believe has been charged with several counts, including falsifying official records, including a national ID card and card, according to the Crime Suppression Division captain, Pol Maj Gen Witthaya Sriprasertphab.

A Thai person who passed away ten years ago was the target of the think. However, his family never reported his death to the officials, he claimed.

The suspect claimed that the dying man used more than 100 different names to apply for a passport while also forged a fake ID card while applying for one.

According to him, authorities demanded proof to support the allegations before asking the court to issue an arrest warrant.

Zeshan, but, refuted the accusations brought against him, he claimed.

Authorities are now looking into whether individuals were involved in the identity theft, according to Pol Maj Gen Witthaya.
