GE2025: Chee Soon Juan needs to explain why he abandoned Bukit Batok for Sembawang West, says Ong Ye Kung

Health Minister Ong Ye Kung stated at an election rally on Thursday ( Apr 24 ) that Dr. Chee Soon Juan needs to provide a better explanation of why he “abandoned Bukit Batok to come to Sembawang West.

The anchor minister for the Sembawang Group Representation Constituency ( GRC ) stated that if the Singapore Democratic Party ( SDP ) chief became an MP for the adjacent Sembawang West single-seat ward, he would not be able to properly care for residents there.

I am unable to do that if citizens vote for Dr. Chee Quickly Juan and he becomes the MP. Because he’s never supposed to work with me, I won’t be able to do that. His career is to challenge me, and his work is to challenge the government, according to Mr. Ong, who is the group’s associate manager.

Mr. Ong, Sembawang West single-seat member Poh Li San, Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC prospects, Senior Minister of State for Defence and Manpower Zaqy Mohamad, Mr. Alex Yam, and Ms. Hany Soh were a few speakers at Woodlands Stadium. The last statement of the day will be delivered by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.

Mr. Ong mentioned that some people in Sembawang West have contacted him to inquire whether they are also under his care or if they have been forgotten.

Residents of Sembawang West, please know that you are still a part of the large Sembawang home, and that I would suggest that you are actually a part of the larger north family, he said.

Mr. Ong urged voters to choose People’s Action Party ( PAP ) candidate Poh Li San, who he described as a” close coworker” to maintain the” strong family ties.”

You vote for her, and she becomes the MP, he said,” I can continue to work closely with her and pay close attention to Sembawang West.”

In his speech, Mr. Ong addressed current public allegations that Dr. Chee had attempted to portray Sembawang West SMC as” a lonely island” distinct from the Sembawang home.

” I thought about it and realized why Dr. Chee said these items. Dr. Chee opposes Sembawang West from joining the larger Sembawang community. Why? He is aware of it, in my opinion, diplomatically,” said the health secretary.

Better for Sembawang West to turn into a lone isle cut off from the rest of the city. Create Sembawang West people believe it is unfair. Make you angry. Create you enraged. He therefore has a better chance of winning the elections.

POLITICAL MOVE CALCULATED POLITICAL

After a century of being uninterested in that place, Mr. Ong referred to Dr. Chee’s relocation from Bukit Batok to Sembawang West as a” determined social move.”

He noted that the SDP commander had “abandoned” his Holland-Bukit Timah GRC staff to challenge that election in Bukit Batok during the 2016 by-election.

He lost that battle, as well as the 2020 General Election, according to Mr. Ong.

He told Bukit Batok people,” You know me, I am never going somewhere,” when the Electoral Boundaries Review Committee recently released its record. He quickly packed up and left and arrived in Sembawang West, according to Mr. Ong.

The SDP has even given up on Holland-Bukit Timah GRC this vote, citing Mr. Ong, while his justification for rejecting his position on Bukit Batok was that it has become a part of Jurong East-Bukit Batok GRC.

It has been forming a team to engage and engage in Sembawang GRC after ten years of not being interested in the project. If he had been truly committed to Bukit Batok, he could have simply formed a team to compete in the new Jurong East-Bukit Batok GRC. He made the decision to no, he said.

He added that because a hospital is smaller and can be covered in three months, Dr. Chee had stated in a nearby radio that he had decided to challenge in a Single Member Constituency.

He acknowledged that the bridgehead was present. ” Strategise from that,” said Mr. Ong, “win it first, then strategize from that.”

” I believe Singaporeans are very observant. This is a social decision, we all know for sure.

There is nothing wrong with performing social calculations and reversing districts. In elections, it occurs. But be open and honest with your electorates. Don’t say to Sembawang West people,” I’m doing it for you.”

POH LI SAN “UNDERESTIMATED”

Additionally, Mr. Ong claimed that Dr. Chee “underestimated Ms. Poh and the Sembawang family’s power.”

He claimed that the real focus of the Sembawang West SMC competition is to keep Ms Poh in the Sembawang family and keep out Dr. Chee.

” It’s also about voting for Li San who has worked hard for you for the past five years and is committed to you, over voting for Dr. Chee who claims that he does it because, in fact, you are a part of his” Northern Strategy,” he said, adding that you are a part of his beachhead for a different strategy in the future.

In a statement made public in March, Dr. Chee claimed that the SDP intended to challenge in Sembawang GRC, a district they did not contest in the previous two general elections.

In the 2015 and 2020 contests, the opposition party, the National Solidarity Party ( NSP). The group is continuing to fight the GRC this month, setting the stage for a three-way conflict between SDP, PAP, and itself.

Ong said on Thursday,” I think Sembawang people are fair-minded, and they are aware of who has been serving them for so long.”

Ms. Poh said in her statement that her opposition and his party could make “bold claims” like lowering the Tax rates to 5 %, introducing the minimum wage, and significantly reducing the number of foreign PMETs.

But, she said, they do not explain the long-term effects these ideas may have on the market and work or who would be paying for them.

Cash doesn’t fall from the sky, she said, let’s be honest.

Without a substitute program, she explained, lowering the GST rate would require raising income from other sources.

She said,” We need well-thought-out plans to move this country also, not populist snippets.”

UNWANTED” Controversial POLITICS” IN SINGAPORE

Mr. Zaqy emphasized the value of the unity and unity that Singapore has developed over the years and that elections should not be allowed to undermine this.

” Seeing how, across the world, politics has become a cause of division, is what keeps me up at night, particularly during the common election,” he said.

He noted that societies have been divided over problems like race, religion, or cause-by-issue problems.

” Pro-LGBT, anti-LGBT reasons, pro-abortion, pro-life factors, pro-Palestine, pro-Israel,” the phrase”. He claimed that elections has caused actually families and friends to splinter.

He added that everyone has their personal beliefs and principles, and that officials also do, he continued.

We as politicians also have specific issues when we have to prioritize our own needs and pain over our own personal concerns, according to Mr. Zaqy. ” But we must never, ever allow politicians to influence this, to divide our folks,” he said.

” Divisive politics is not the kind of politics we want in Singapore,” he continued, adding that we must respect that regardless of the political parties in the general election.

He claimed that PAP has stayed away from contentious politics for almost 60 years and upheld the process of unity.

He claimed that the party not pits any one race, religion, or team against another.

Because we are aware that once unification is lost, recovery is difficult. And that is a major matter, he said.

We may include various viewpoints. Laws can be debated. Tips and modifications are encouraged. But let’s not cross that range into the political system that divides Singaporeans.
