In the 2025 General Election, the People’s Action Party ( PAP ) and the Progress Singapore Party ( PSP) will square off in Pioneer SMC.  ,  ,
Patrick Tay will challenge Stephanie Tan for the seat in the PAP nomination papers filed on Wednesday ( Apr 23 ), according to Nan Hua High School’s nomination papers.
Mr. Tay, 53, the National Trades Union Congress ‘ associate secretary-general, has been the Pioneer’s MP since 2015. In a three-cornered race that included PSP’s Lim Cher Hong ( 35.7 % ) and independent candidate Cheang Peng Wah ( 2.78 % ), he received 62 % of the vote in the 2020 General Election.  ,
It was one of just two three-way elections in that year.
This time, Mr. Tay and Ms. Tan will engage in direct combat. Ms. Tan, a novice in democratic elections, graduated with a law amount from the National University of Singapore in 2011 and was admitted to the table in 2011. The 37-year-old has worked in both the public and private sectors, including as an assistant producer in the Ministry of Law’s legal scheme section.
Mr. Tay thanked his followers for their help over the past five years in his statement. Create Pioneer a better location for all of us to live and play together, with your help and vote.
Ms. Tan stated in her statement that she anticipates a” fresh fight” with Mr. Tay, her rival.  ,

In the most recent assessment of Singapore’s democratic map, Pioneer SMC is one of nine districts that has not changed. Geographically, the clinic is situated within the region that the PSP is also contesting, which is now encircled by the recently renamed West Coast-Jurong West GRC.  ,
