Vietnam clamps down on fraud on US exports, document shows

HANOI: Vietnam’s business government has issued a directive to crack down on illegal transhipment of products to the United States and other buying lovers as it tries to avoid rocky US tariffs, according to a report reviewed by Reuters.

The government in the order, which was dated and powerful Apr 15, said industry fraud was likely to increase amid growing anxiety caused by US tariffs.

That in turn may create it “more complicated to evade sanctions that countries will use to imported products” if scam is no prevented, it said. The law did not specifically title any countries where transhipment scams may originate. However, Vietnam imports almost 40 per share of goods from China and Washington has openly accused Beijing of using the Southeast Asian nation as a transhipment gateway to evade US jobs.

Vietnam has been slapped by the Trump presidency with 46 per cent “reciprocal” taxes, presently paused until July, which if applied was really undermine a development design that relies on exports to the United States and significant investments in the country by international manufacturers.
