
The Ministry of Trade and Industry ( MTI ) announced on Thursday ( Apr 17 ) that Mr. Chia Song Hwee will succeed Mr. Tan Chong Meng as chairman of JTC Corporation.
Mr. Chia, who is currently Deputy CEO at Temasek International, will take over as chairman-designate of JTC on May 1 and take over as president on July 1.
Mr. Tan has been a member of JTC’s committee for more than six years, according to MTI. JTC is a statutory body under MTI that develops and manages a variety of services, including business gardens.
Prior to joining Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing, Mr. Chia served as the ’s chief operating officer at GlobalFoundries.
He recently served as the chairman and CEO of Semiconductor Manufacturing and Chartered .
The National Financial Regulatory Administration of China’s International Advisory Council is likewise led by Mr. Chia. He also serves on the National Research Foundation’s table.
Efforts TO JTC
In April 2019, Mr. Tan was sworn in as the president of JTC.
He led JTC through the COVID-19 crisis and transformed it, according to MTI, into a “forward-looking professional master planner and developer in support of Singapore’s financial agenda.”
” During Mr. Tan’s tenure, JTC embarked on the development of bright new-generation estates that facilitate vibrant and creative communities, and embedded sustainability as a principle in all its business endeavors,” the department continued.
The 600-hectare Jurong Innovation District and the Punggol Digital District are among the new-generation lands.
Additionally, Mr. Tan was in charge of the completion of the Kranji Built Environment Hub, a roughly 1 million square meter extension of the new-generation high-rise business projects.
In January, he assumed the position of president of the National University Health System board, with a term that is scheduled to move until December 31, 2027.
Chong Meng’s leadership and great contributions to JTC are greatly appreciated, according to Dr. Beh Swan Gin, MTI’s permanent secretary.

Not just the leadership change at JTC in recent months, is the nomination of Mr. Chia. Ms. Jacqueline Poh took over as CEO of JTC Corporation on April 1st, taking Mr. Tan Boon Khai’s place.
