GE2025: PSP to field Jeffrey Khoo in Marymount SMC

Jeffrey Khoo, a member of the Progress Singapore Party ( PSP), will run for president in the upcoming General Election at Marymount SMC.

On Thursday ( Apr 17 ), Mr. Khoo told reporters at Bishan North Shopping Centre,” The party has asked me to come here as the candidate for Marymount.”

On April 12, the group announced it would challenge Kebun Baru, Marymount, and Pioneer SMCs, and the 56-year-old was spotted with PSP’s secretary-general Leong Mun Wai on a walkabout in Marymount.

Mr. Khoo, who was previously a part of the group’s core administrative committee, will represent PSP’s West Coast GRC staff in 2020. The closest combat of that election took place in the five-seater district.

With 51.69 % of the ballot, the PAP group, led by former transport secretary S Iswaran, came out on top. The close election resulted in Mr. Leong and gathering vice-chairperson Hazel Poa receiving two Non-Constituency Member of Parliament votes for the opposition party.

According to the group, Mr. Khoo is currently the CEO of a local risk consulting company.

The party’s plans to run for the West Coast-Jurong West and Chua Chu Kang GRCs will also be confirmed, resulting in a total of 12 prospects.

In the previous election, PSP fielded individuals in all three SMCs.

Then, in Marymount SMC, Gan Siow Huang, the People’s Action Party’s ( PAP ) candidate, defeated former PSP secretary-general Ang Yong Guan, resulting in a 55.04 % turnout.

The PSP has” a lot of friends” in Marymount, Mr. Khoo said, adding that Dr. Ang was once active in the area. &nbsp, &nbsp,

We clearly understand the location, I may say. However, he said,” not but to declare that we have that strong stems here and all that,” adding that coordinating additional activities on the ground may “take a little time.”

The People’s Alliance for Reform ( PAR ) has also stated that it will contest Marymount SMC.

When asked if PSP had spoken to Line about avoiding a three-corner battle, Mr. Khoo claimed that his party is speaking with the opposition alliance and that he believes the discussions likely “pan out well.”

The 14th General Election in Singapore will take place on May 3.
