Esau John Chin, 64, may spend an additional six months in prison in lieu of being caned, extending his entire prison term by four times and nine months. Caning is no imposed on female criminals who are 50 or older in Singapore.  ,
Following a test in March, Chin was found guilty of seven counts of molesting.  ,
The sufferer, who was between the ages of 11 and 18, was alleged to have admired Chin as a father figure after his father passed away.  ,
Due to a joke order, the 34-year-old target may be identified.  ,
District Judge Shaiffudin Saruwan delivered his sentence, citing” serious” abuse of trust,” severe” intrusion by the accused, and exploitation of the victim’s vulnerability.  ,
He objected, but, to the lawyer’s claim that the accused, a New Zealander, had taken advantage of the victim’s “vacuum” to become a father.
He said,” I would disagree with this assertion because it portrays the accused as someone who planned this right away.” The evidence presented in court did not support this claim.  ,
He claimed that it was entirely possible that when the accused assumed the role of a parents figure, it was for “altruistic” causes and” with their wellbeing in head,” but eventually it was abused after getting it.  ,
How HAPPENED ,
According to judge records, Chin, who was formerly a member of Singapore, would visit the defendant’s home at least once per year when he came back from New Zealand between 2000 and 2020.  ,
The only son among the three children is the target.  ,
The prosecution claims that Chin had abused a family’s risk to make a case for itself.  ,
Between 2002 and 2008, when the sufferer was between the ages of 11 and 18, he sexually assaulted the target. At the time of the physical assaults, Chan was between the ages of 41 and 48.  ,
The court was informed in the early years of Chin’s stay that he would take a shower dressed with the victim and touch the victim’s personal parts.  ,
He slept with the target at least once a month when he lived with the home and do abuse him while he was asleep, between 2002 and 2008.  ,
Chin did have sex acts on the victim, who may work as though she was asleep but attempt to leave.  ,
The target looked up to the accused as a father figure and was unsure whether the deeds were committed between father and son because he was young.  ,
Only in 2009 did the sexual acts end when the sufferer revealed to the accused that he had a girl.
Chin, in his defense, denied ever touching the defendant’s genitalia, despite admitting to taking a shower while naked with him.  ,
