In the upcoming election, Holland-Bukit Timah GRC candidate Vivian Balakrishnan will once again lead the People’s Action Party ( PAP ) team in Singapore.  ,
Sim Ann, the senior minister of state for foreign affairs and national development, Christopher de Souza, Deputy Speaker Christopher de Souza, and MP Edward Chia are also on his side, making up the same four-person team that defeated the Singapore Democratic Party ( SDP ) to win 66.36 percent of the vote in 2020.  ,
Mr Min Cheong, Dr. James Gomez, Mr. Alfred Tan, and Mr. Tan Jee State made up the SDP granite in that election.  ,
Our people know us, and we are a tried-and-true staff. We’ve been here for a long time, said Dr. Balakrishnan on Tuesday ( Apr 15 ), as he introduced the PAP team at the Pang Sua Pond performance stage.  ,
He said,” We’ve walked with our people, listened to their thoughts, concerns, hopes, and dreams.”
Since joining the Holland-Bukit Timah GRC in 2006, Dr. Balakrishnan has contested in the organization’s first political contest, which was held in the previous Holland-Bukit Panjang GRC.
Ms. Sim made her political comeback in 2011, while Mr. de Souza, a lawyer, did so in 2006. Since then, both have resided in the GRC. Mr. Chia, a merchant, won his primary election in 2020 and succeeded Mr. Liang Eng Hwa, who resigned from Bukit Panjang SMC.
Prior to GE2025, the boundary of the Holland-Bukit Timah GRC was minimal. Rail Green I and II@CCK, two brand-new Choa Chu Kang HDB estates, have been reassigned to Chua Chu Kang GRC. A polling area south of Upper Bukit Timah Road has been moved from Jurong GRC to Holland-Bukit Timah.
As a result, the public has grown from 114, 973 in 2020 to an expected 122, 891 electors in 2025.
Red Dot United, the opposition group, announced earlier this month that it would not contest the GRC but that it would step down as party for the SDP. The SDP is also looking into the possibility of fielding a staff, as it has done for the previous three elections, according to RDU Secretary-General Ravi Philemon.
