In the upcoming election, Liang Eng Hwa of the People’s Action Party ( PAP ) will challenge the single-seat ward of Bukit Panjang.  ,
The party also introduced its slate for Holland-Bukit Timah GRC at the Pang Sua Pond performance stage on Tuesday ( Apr 15 ).
With 53.73 percent of the ballot, Mr. Liang clung to SDP candidate Paul Tambyah in the election of 2020. The SMC vote was the closest to the poll, overall.  ,
Mr. Liang expressed his gratitude for the chance to carry on the efforts to enhance the well-being of Bukit Panjang SMC people.
We’re glad that we ( managed to ) catch up some lost time, he said, “despite the demanding first two years of our term due to COVID , very challenging situations to get jobs off the ground then.”
Before relocating to Bukit Panjang SMC, Mr. Liang, a controlling chairman at DBS, served as an MP for Holland-Bukit Timah GRC from 2006 to 2020. He made it known in 2023 that he had been diagnosed with head cancer.
For the future vote, Bukit Panjang SMC’s restrictions remain the same. As of Feb 1, the hospital has 33, 566 registered voters, over from 35, 437 in 2020.
Chee Quickly Juan, SDP secretary-general, announced last month that Prof. Tambyah, an expert on infectious diseases, would once more contest the chair, reversing the outcome of the 2020 face-off.  ,
