The US government recently imposed sweeping new levies, prompting Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to inform that the world environment would continue to be tumultuous for the near future.
He urged Singaporeans to prepare themselves in a YouTube movie because the threats are real and the stakes are high.
Similar caution was issued by Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong, who also serves as the minister of trade and industry, regarding “rough lakes back” for households and businesses. Foreign Affairs Minister Vivian Balakrishnan and Home Affairs and Law Minister K Shanmugam also spoke over the weekend. Dr. Balakrishnan and Mr. Shanmugam both expressed concern about slower global growth and rising inflation, while Mr. Shanmugam described the taxes as” a darkness that is form across the world.”
Pritam Singh, the leader of the opposition, supported Mr. Wong’s call for unification as Singapore “enters another sea of unchartered waterways.”
According to him,” Singapore’s best response to an unknown future is unity in diversity, regardless of race or religion,” he said, confirming the Workers ‘ Party’s commitment to “rational and responsible opposition politics.”  ,

Mr. Leong claimed on Sunday that Singapore has weathered more severe storms in the past, citing the 1970s ‘ global crude and inflation crisis.
