MoUs mark elevation of Nepal ties on PM’s visit

On Wednesday, Thailand and Nepal signed eight memoranda of understandings ( MoU) and agreements, strengthening their cooperation in crucial fields like education and tourism.

According to federal official Jirayu Houngsub, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra and her rival, KP Sharma Oli, signed a MoU on condition assistance.

The Nepali prime minister is traveling to the nation on Friday for the 6th annual Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation ( BIMSTEC ) Summit in Bangkok.

According to Mr. Jirayu, the MoU emphasizes participation in fields like commerce, culture, and trade, as well as an arrangement between local chambers of commerce and educational institutions. A Nepali position president has made his first official visit in over 80 years. The close-knit political relationship is expected to grow with the appointment.

They discussed a range of subjects and were impressed by the MoUs signed at the function, according to Mr. Jirayu. Ms. Paetongtarn praised Nepal’s control of its electricity system and waters resource development.

Both PMs agreed to improve cooperation in areas of equipment and strength. They also came to terms on easing business methods and reducing trade barriers. In order to increase bilateral trade from US$ 40 million ( 1.37 billion baht ), Ms. Paetongtarn made the commitment to promote Thai investment in Nepal.

According to Mr. Jirayu, they also agreed to increase air travel between Kathmandu and Bangkok to increase tourism and the economy. Additionally, they pledged to foster stronger participation in the wellness and generosity sectors as well as increase person-to-person and social exchanges.

Ms. Paetongtarn expressed her gratitude for Nepal’s support of Thailand as the head of the Bimstec. The prime minister pledged to make Bimstec the major force in promoting regional assistance. According to Mr. Jirayu,” Ms. Paetongtarn even insisted on enhancing bilateral and multilateral cooperation for sustainable creation.”
